Unhoused Black Lives Matter
Racial Disparities in Homelessness
The homeless crisis in Los Angeles and nationwide is a symptom of a vast network of causes including a lack of affordable housing, poverty, healthcare inequality, incarceration, segregation, and systemic racism. These factors all disproportionately impact the Black community, resulting in Black people representing 34% of unhoused people in Los Angeles despite making up only 8% of the population. We can no longer passively support racial justice we must take action and demand policies that will definitively establish racial equity in Los Angeles and beyond.
